Default 225/45/17 a good size for SSR comps?

I'm getting SO3's, and I guess my choices of tire size are:

225/45/17
235/40/17
235/45/17

Kinda curious if I should be getting 235 width tires instead.

Tirerack recommends 225/45/17

235/45/17 will have too much sidewall flex (read poor handling)

Yeah thats what I run, although next time I'll get 235/45's though. These are too short.

Default i can't believe you guys complain about Boston roads so much...they're not that bad..the

Detroit area is really worse IMO, but we don't have as many big steel planks scattered all over the place

Default Depends where you drive, did you get down in the hard-core Big Dig parts of the city?

I'd be running 18's no problem, with skinny rubber if I didn't have to drive through the construction zone twice a day. Trashed an SSR a few days ago on a hole in the ground.

Its mostly people who either work on the north shore and come in through the tunnel, or people who have to get on or off 93 in that area who really have problems.

Default I am running stock Michelin 225/45-17 on SSR 17x8.5

They look fine and handling seems to have improved. Tire size depends to some extent on your goals. I wanted the lightest wheel/tire combination, so sticking with 225 helps keep weight down.

Perfect sized tire...but will rub at 25 1/4" ride height w/o fender rolling.
