Default 3157 LED Bulb - superwhite from Jim Strait arrived and install

okay i finally got it.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/2203/audi_light_3157_006.jpg">

left light is super white LED, middle is city light, and right is regular amber bulb.

as you can tell it is not as bright as the amber bulb.. i was wondering WHY?? then i realize one thing about LED bulb.. it is VERY directional.. if you look at the picture below the base of the LED bulb.. block more of the light that would of reflecting to reflector.. vs.. the amber bulb will be make use of the reflector on the back. if you look at it straight on.. it is very bright.

it does have HID effect(compare the bluish light with the side marker which is Raybrig HID effect light), and it will make your blinker blink pretty fast. (about x2 to x3 the normal rate. i have some quick time movie if you guys are interested.. i will post to this thread in a second.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/2203/audi_light_3157_004.jpg">

i have a pair of them for $60... it is dealer price that i arrange. .they are selling retails $48 per bulb. let me know if you want it.

anyway during the euro city light install that Diablo Audi didn't do for me.. i discover that the interior of the fender is actually painted with triple coat pearl by the factory.. vs the left fender (repair by Diablo Audi) was NOT. only 2 coat.

Default That high speed blink is an indication of a blown bulb...this happens because

the relay has a facility for detecting blown filaments...since your LED's dont draw that much current (maybe 30~50mA tops each...times say 10 leds...which would be 300mA or about 4.5 watts) you can fix the blinking rate by putting the proper value resistor in parallel with the blinker part of the bulb wiring...but it will be a pretty stout resistor...say 25Watts to 50 Watts...you can get these reasonably compact.

Regards,

James R.

Please post a picture with the corners and HIDS on. I would like if they match. Thanks!

Default doh!!!! i have taking them out temporaryly to test against HID bulbs from raybrig 3157

at 60 bucks.. unless you want ultra fast blink rate.. and unlimit life cycle on bulb.. i will say go back to HID bulbs from japan.

Default Raybrig has a 3157 that's HID look? I still looking for one that FITs...

...I have not found an HID look 3157 that fits.

Can you give me a link as to where I can buy. I'm sick of doing searchs on Yahoo, Google and Alta Vista because I have had no luck.

The closest ones are the APCs but they look blue.

&lt;sigh&gt; What PITA.

Thanks!
