Default 335xi coupe vs B5 S4. first observations after delivery

GF just got 6spd xi coupe, so I had a chance to drive it....
- car feels a bit on a heavy side compared to 335i sedan we test drove 6 months ago. However it feels more "stable/confident" on a road too
- steering and suspension are amazing. Just a right combination of performance and comfort
- turning radius is very small compared to Audi
- power is there, just not as much torque as stage2 S4.
- BMW X drive felt a bit different in turns I often take on my S4, I think it had less grip perhaps due to run flats or Stability Control on (Traction was off)
- iDrive is very cool.
Car is unbeatable value for $47k

Tomorrow we will do some highway runs in 6th gear. Lets see who spools faster...

Why not wait a little and let the turbos and clutch break in before doing highway pulls.

Default what are your thoughts on the "motoman" method?

do you still work at VW? i have 300 miles on my 08 GTI, had it for a week now (looooove it). drove it up here to psu, and i did do a few motoman "pulls," i read alot about it and it seems legit, Dr GP from B6 is a big promoter also. as long as you stay in the same gear and decelerate i think its ok?

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm</a

Default Well think of it this way. What do they say on here when upgrading turbos and clutch?

They say to not beat on them to hard the first 1000 miles or so. I no longer work for VW. The last dealership I worked for made working in the car biz sour.

Default Turbos have no break-in and clutch has no issue once it's in on a highway pull...

Nothing wrong with giving a modern motor some stick once the clutch is in. Doing the first oil change at 1k or so is prudent.

Just remember the higher the gear the more load you are putting on the motor.
