Default A few options...

1. Pull the head and re-tap the threads for the spark plug. Despite the time involved, this is the best method and least likely to cause problems down the road.

2. You can re-tap the threads with the head still on by putting a heavy, sticky grease (Ex. wheel bearing grease) on the tap to catch the filings. This method has worked for many but is risky. It does not guarantee that a few metal shavings don't fall into the cylinder.

3. Put a helicoil into the spark plug hole. Similar to option 2, if the threads are too damaged to simply chase with a tap.

Metal filings pose a double threat for our turbocharged cars. Even if it is blown out the exhaust port and does no damage to the cylinder, it still has to pass through the high speed turbine of the turbo.
