Default 95% of spare ecu users do not intend to pull a "fast one" as you say

Like some people have said from prior experience, some dealers are not as chip friendly as others. Some service departments have refused service on legitimate warranty claims that have NOTHING, zero, natta, to do with a turbo or chipped turbo. I have an APR EMCS chip in my car. When I take it in for service, I put the car in stock mode. The service department knows that I am chipped. If I had a GIAC chip or any other chip that did not have EMCS or socketed chip, then I may put in a spare ECU. Just because I'm putting in a spare ECU does not mean that I'm trying to trick any Audi dealership with un-warranted problems.

It's great that Ed's blown turbos will be taken care of. His problems are hopefully in the past. However, because Ed's problems are now being resolved does not mean that problems and issues brought up in the past few days will just go away. Most of us are not like Ed, who has built a relationship with his dealership over the years. I for one am a first time Audi owner as well as a VW owner, and I have a problem with AoA or VWoA (or whatever they're called) denying service to my vehicle(s) because I am chipped or may be chipped.

Default I doubt 95% of those owners are as honest as you... I would tend to think that % is much lower...

but that is my $0.02...

I have the stock chip/socket for my GIAC chip and I have yet to switch it when I take it in for service. I just leave it as-is.
