AAAAH! (pulling hair out) Need ABS Help....

Ok, so I got my ABS unit back from AutoECU.com today. I hook everything back up, hook up VAG, turn the ignition, and the ABS/Brake lights are flashing. I figure I just have to clear the old fault codes, but when I access the controller I get this new code!!:
65535 - Internal Controle Module Memory Error.
The warning lights stay on. Sometime the code clears and sometimes it doesn't.
I tried an Output test with VAG and the ABS warning light just flashes really fast and then an error message pops up in VAG saying it cannot communicate with the controller.
What the heck is going on here? According to Bentley DTC 65535 means that the controller must be replaced. Could the AutoECU people have screwed my controller more than it was?
I tried (for the first time) to log in to the ABS controller thru VAG, but the code (09495 for my '00 6spd) is not accepted by the controller. Do I need to have a "workshop code" in VAG? If so, how do I do it?
Any ideas here? Please! I will call AutoECU tomorrow and update the post. I'll also X-post in VAG forum.
Thanks.

a customer desired to buy a rebuilt unit and bring it to me to install it
it took two days for the thing to work ok
at first lights on, unable to communicate with it and all sorts of things
all by itself start working but still the light comes on sometimes
I would not recommend a rebuilt unit at all
