Default about to join the fray...

hello all,

I've been reading all your posts with great interests for quite a while, as I have been rationalizing the plunge into an S4. While certainly the car warrants no such hesitation, the bucks do.. particularly here in Canuckland where they are practically worthless

Ok, I'm on a colour. Comments on the colours of your rockets, regrets, bias'es
are all appreciated. I'm leaning towards silver.. easy to keep clean, unobtrusive but on the S4, quite "predatory" (imo). Help me.

Default Silver is good...

... I think one thing that has turned S4 owners off to silver is that in major U.S. cities nine out of ten Audis seem to be silver - especially TT's which seem to be 99% silver.

If I were buying an S4, I would go with Nogaro or Imola, and would probably choose Nogaro simply because it's slightly more stealthy than Imola but still very vibrant and eye-catching. Imola is truly the "look at me" color, the question is whether the little blue men with the radar guns will hear the "look at me" sentiment.

Apparently Sharon got across the country and back without a ticket, though...

Default Silver is nice if you don't mind looking like everyone.

I understand it tends to look cleaner than most colors. As one Black S4 reminded us, the color does not make the car dirtier, it just shows the dirt more or less.

I have a Pearl White, which was a special order. Hides dirt well. Originally ordered Black, but found the Pearl White at another dealership.

If I had to pick from normally available colors today, I would go for the Imola. Yeah, it screams, "look at me", but who cares. I don't think you lose the stealthy look with yellow. There are other cars offered in yellow that I can't help but think why. Since the S4 is stealty, others may think it falls into the "why is that car yellow" category.
Brett Gissel

Ok, agreed on the "cloned" issue about silver... looks nice though. I have
not seen the following colours on an actual vehicle, and the Audi USA
"build your Audi" section doesn't really give a good reflection on the vehicle
colour, so if I could get some comments from those who have, or have
seen...

Santorin Blue
Hibiscus Red (not sure I want a flower power car )
Cactus Green

Thanks,

Earnie

Default Cactus Green seems too light of a green.

I haven't seen it in person, but have seen pics. Shade varies like the Nogaro Blue, but looks to light when the sun is shining.

I'm considering (still just considering) selling my '00 and getting a '01 S4 Avant. I like green, but I want something darker like Racing Green (A6 & A8) or Goodwood Green (RS4). I've been told that I may not be able to get either. Of the available colors, I am leaning towards Imola Yellow.

The Santorin Blue is more of a classy, darker looking blue than Nogaro Blue. Satorin also does not scream, "look at me".
Brett Gissel

Default Might try to find a Pearl White!

I just finished waxing my HibRed and I think I would have preferred Pearl white or Silver now that I've had a dark car for a while.

Default If looking for a used Pearl White,

mine could be for sale soon. I have a deposit down for '01 S4 Avant and still haven't decided whether to get the Avant or keep the '00.

Indecisive,
Brett Gissel
