Default ?! there is no "set tension" the tention is put on throught a dampener

make sure is TDC (top dead center) and it stays there (use the bar and the pin) ..do you have the tools to take out the fan ?

Default yup you need the audi "Chopstick tool" to remove the fan...I was able to remove with a big

wrench and a mini crowbar. Make a lot of marks if you don't have the cam lock tool. Good Luck

Default Actually there is, you need to torque the tensioner to 15 or 20NM IIRC with the hex cutout in the...

tensioner.

Default don't forget, tha fan that covers the timing belt cover is reverse threaded.....

so turn to the right to loosen - opposite of normal.....my fan was on there tigher than any fan in history after I got done cranking it to the left (counterclockwise)

Default hmm i didn't see that in my bentley ..so after you put it all together

you have to do that (put the 20Mn tension on the belt) and then tighten the cam sprokets i guess ..correct ?

Default Wow... this certainly is NOT an area where I was hoping/expecting to see differing opinions...

can anyone verify one way or another?

Default i'd def go with what Mark said , he's way more knowledgeable that me or others.

i didn't do that and everything is fine.. i just made sure thatre was tension in the belt before i tighten the cam sprokets back up , having the cam lock BAR IN PLACE of course.
