Lately i've been having an intermittent fault with my ABS. The lights would come on, and shut off when they want to. I don't know if it's the version of VAG, but also lately i can check engine codes which gives me the rough road from ABS... blah blah fault code, but it won't read the ABS module. Will it not read it if the light is on (ex, i can only check the ABS if the abs light is off?)... Moral of the story, here's the questions:
-is it the version of VAG or will it not read if the lights are on?
-I checked the connection between the ABS and ECU.. it's okay.. Can the ABS module be fixed or do i have to replace it?
If #2... can anyone get me a better deal that the stealership?
I appreciate the help (in advance)

Its the controller half of the ABS unit, the part of the side of the ABS pump. I replaced the controller half of the ABS unit and it works fine. You have to buy the pump and controller together if you go this route. Some have bought new pump/controllers (~$1K from the stealer), I bought mine from a junkyard for $150 or so, a gamble but a chance I was willing to take. You can also send the controller off to have it repaired... but people have had mixed reviews on that service. I forget the two companies that do that right off, you'd have to stfa or wait until someone else chims in. Its pretty easy to take the 6 torx screws out to separate the ABS controller as long as you have the right tools. Hope this helps :-)

The other company that people have tried has had less than stellar result though IIRC. Had I known about ModuleMasters when mine went (about 8 months ago) I would have definitely gone with that route, can't beat the 5 year warrenty.
