Default Is ABS used to correct the car with no ESP when it detects traction loss under acceleration?

My guess is no, but I want to make sure. It's a long story and I'll give you guys the details when I can, but for now mums the word. Here was my friends explanation, I just wanted a couple more opinions:

"Torsen DOES NOT use brake power to engage the AWD, unlike many other AWD implementations. ESP uses brakes, but you don't have ESP either. The Torsen is purely mechanical, implemented through gearing."

Default Torsen addresses front-to-rear traction issues.

For left-to-right traction issues, the car uses EDL/ABS (but only at lower speeds).
