Default Adjustable ride height? suspension??

Ok, i'll explain my inquiry. I love the ride of my s4, i really dont have any complaints. I dont like the gap between my wheels (stock) and the actual body of the car, but i know that i like that difference in the snow. Is there an aftermarket suspension part/setup i can install that will allow me to drop the car (about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch) in the summer, but pull it back to stock height in the winter? what would the price be?

Default All of these coilover set-ups have height adjustability

Most have adjustable damping as well (all except for KW Variant 1, I believe). Although there is always some compromise between ride quality and handling, some actually prefer the ride quality of coilovers over stock. This is due to the excessive 'bouncy' quality of the stock suspension vs. the firmer feeling of a coilover set-up. Because most of these coilover set-ups have both height and damping adjustability, you can dial-in what suits your tastes best. They cost a pretty penny, between $1200-1800 for everything other than the KW Variant 1 (KW Variant 1 runs about $1000 but is lower quality than the rest -- some criticize it for being too 'soft' and 'mushy-feeling'). Remember, you get what you pay for...

Default Which set?

If you're going to shell out the big bucks (>$1K) for coilovers, I wouldn't compromise now and choose whatever's cheapest. Do some research and figure out which one suits your needs the best. If you've already done that and if you're interested in H&R Street or Ultra coilovers, Werks of Art is conducting a year-long 2002 group-buy on H&R coilover sets on Audizine.com. Go to their "Group Buy & Classifieds" forum for more details. I believe it was $1080 for the Streets and $1240 for the Ultras + shipping from Germany (about $100 or so). The Bilstein PSS-9s have yet to be released and are highly anticipated. I'm sure they will not disappoint, but I'm not sure which vendors will be selling them. As for KW and Koni, I don't know who the best vendors are -- try a search in the archives. Stassis and Vortrag coilovers are only available factory-direct, so do a search on Yahoo! for their websites and you can order directly from them. Good luck! Keep us updated on your choice and how you like them!

Actually, I don't think ANY of those mentioned have adjustable damping (except for the KW V2s)

Default I don't seriously think i want coilovers, i just want to remove that gap

Would 18inch rims for summer change the gap at all?

Default No, unless you wanted to change the outer diameter as well...

You can keep the stock springs and get the Bilstein grooved-body dampers. They run about $550-600/set and you can adjust the height settings. The handling should improve also. Keep in mind that the install will run you another $2-300.

Default I'm pretty sure the Konis do -- but my mistake

KW Variant 3's do
Bilstein PSS9's most likely will

Don't know about the H&R Streets and Ultras -- I just assumed they did.
