Default advice needed. Semi long....

On Saturday night I was on my way to Breckenridge to visit some friends from Chicago. Car was acting real funny as I was driving it. Near the top of Berthoud pass it started to smoke. I lifted the hood and it was on fire. Yes, FIRE! I got all my personal **** out of the car. Because, I was going to on a small 2 day vacation. I put the fire out. It was fairly small. Underneath the MAF. I ended up catching a CME all the way to frisco. So I made it to Breck. Car was towed fire was out. Now comes the insurance. I want this car to be a total loss. I don't care how much I am out. I want to move on. Since, I don't feel my car safe to drive what will the insurace company do? I really don't even want the car back. The never asked me about modifications. Obviously, I would like to pull them all off and start with again with an avant.

Am I ****ed and will I have to keep the car?

I have never had a situation with fire damage.

Thanks for the help.

Curious, What was the actual cause of the fire?

Man, your car is possessed. You've had so many problems. I don't blame you for wanting to run away

Default I doubt they'll total the car unless the damage done was at least 75% of the value.

They also won't let you take off the mods unless you have stock parts to put back on.

There's really no way to push them into totalling it. I tried that with a corrado vr6 I had and the damage done definately should've totalled it.

I just don't feel safe driving it across country anymore. If it just catches fire.

Default There's nothing really under the MAF that should catch on fire.

Your car has good parts on it, shouldn't be having these problems.
