After 5 years of owning this car, I think I need to buy a VAG-COM.

I know there's a serial and a USB version. Is there any advantage to having one over the other?

Many (most?) new laptops don't have a serial port.

USB 2.0 will be faster. Plus most laptops have multiple USB ports.

any idea why they recommend serial? Is it more stable?

I've come across a few that have both, hence the question on which is better.

Seems like if you have it, the serial is the way to go.
