Default air intake leak detection methods

so far i've been using the pressure-test + soap water method.

i read about another method where a combustable gas is sprayed around suspected areas while the car is idling (with IAC unplugged). as far as the spray i've read "carb cleaner" & "brakleen". i thought seafoam spray may also be used.

it seems somewhat easier. any opinions? risks? cons?
any sprays not to use? any ingridients to watch out for?
any recommended sprays?

Smoke test would help.

I saw a propane bottle being used once. It uses a small amount and changes the idle.

Default I agree, but I think the smoke would still find its way out of a leak if it were big enough. I

was able to find a leak with a smoke test when I first got the car, but it was a rather large one.

Default i'm interested in more info regarding the aerosol method foremost..

smoke testing seems safe; but i do not have a smoke machine, and it seems similar to pressure-testing which i have equipment for.

Default as you said, the carb and choke cleaner method is what my automotive teacher has

told us before...spray it around, when the idle increases, you've found the spot...just be careful not to start ur car on fire...I would have a fire extinguisher handy just in case...

That won't work in all scenarios. Some leaks require lots of positive pressure to manifest themselv
