Default Alcantara questions for S4 owners

Hi all, I will be purchasing an S4 in the coming weeks and have some questions in regards to the Alcantara interior. (I'm hooked on the black/blue look)

Is Alcantara really just a fancy German way of saying "Suede" ? or is there something special to it that makes it "Alcantara"?

How hard is it to keep clean?
Is this material treated with anything particular (say, to resist stains?)
How are you going about cleaning it? What are you using?

Thanks for your insight and help all, I'm SOOOO looking forward to my new toy!

Default Its actually an architecural fabric.....

not suede...It is amazingly durable, and cleans up quite easily... There are a couple of Alcantara sites that tell you how to remove most stains (although water works for most things!) Search this forum and you should find the links.

Your going to love it! (and you don't stick to it in the summer, or slide around in it in the winter)

Default It is polyester.....yes, the same stuff coke bottles are made from.

It is also the same stuff as polartec fleece, and the famed leisure suit of the mid seventies. It is a spectacular fabric. I love mine. It is a comfortable way to stick to a seat. It is cool in the summer. I know, I live in Houston.
Get it.

Default One huge benefit I didn't know about when I ordered my Alcantara package

was that if and when you take your car to the track, you absolutely stay put in your seat. It is really uncanny how well this stuff keeps you from sliding around. Other S4 owners that have driven my car on the track say they spend significantly less time trying to hold themself in position in my car vs. theirs (with leather).

It is also, as everyone has indicated, incredibly easy to keep clean. I have had ball point pen marks that came out in a snap (with ethyl alcohol), as well as blood. You will love it.

Polyester is the "nickname" for polyethylene terepthalate (PET) by the way.

We all know the raw materials for PET are ethylene glycol and terepthalic acid. Of course.
