I am thinking about having the Alcon B's installed on my S4. Anyone out there with any reliability problems? How is the performance? Cost? Lastly, is there a place in Georgia (I'm in Alpharetta) who provides/installs them? Thanks.

i think you would be better off with ap racing brakes.they do a very good kit here in the uk,not sure who your local stockist would be in the states.check out www.apracing.com,i know from past experience that alcons aftermarket service is not very good,i would definately go for ap myself.

http://www.apracing.com</a

That since you're in Georgia, take a trip down to Auburn, AL, and visit APR. Let them know that you're coming first. They have an A4 with Alcon B-types on them, and also an S4 which should be getting a new set of B-types (first set was toasted when loaned to the World Challenge car). They should be able to hook you up with a ride in one of their cars. When you're talking about dropping this kind of cash, it's worth the trip. Hell, I'm up near DC, and I still made it down there to check them out. It's worth it. Trust me.
Anyhow, as for what I think of the brakes, they are fabulous. My vote for rotor choice are the 13" cryo'ed Colemans. Street pads? Pagid black. Track pad? Pagid orange, or if you're crazy enough, and can find them, Pagid green. Vortrag will take care of you. They'll really bend over backwards to make sure you're happy. Also, my another suggestion, ask for shims, or tell Todd what kind of front suspension uprights you have. The steel and aluminum require different brackets.

Actually Paul, aftermarket customer service is entirely up to the tuner/distributor sellng the product.
For example, 90% of the kits sold using Alcon calipers are designed by different tuners like RennTech, Brabus, Saleen, Hennesey, etc., etc. and of course, us. It is up to these people to support the "kits" they sell regardless of who makes the caliper. In turn, it is up to Alcon to support the tuners who use their product.
I am sure however that if there is ever a question or problem that the tuner can't solve, that a quick call to Alcon USA would get things handled.
Perhaps you had a problem in the UK at one point?
