Default Alignment questions...

I'm having alot of difficulty with my alignment now. My car has been to the dealer 3 times now in about 45 days for the same alignment issue. The latest is that my alignment "is as good as it gets" which in service speak means that it tracks straight for 50-100 yards and then begins to pull. Is this normal? What do your cars do? Bear in mind that I have an Avant. Immediate replies would be helpful given that I will go to the dealer in 2 hours.

Thanks

Todd

Default Re: Alignment questions... (long post)

I had a SERIOUS problem with mine. Bought it used with 7,000 miles on it. From day one it pulled. I went to the dealer about 6 times for the problem and was also told "as good as it gets". NOT acceptable in the least, my car would DIVE to the right. I finally took it to a small garage where they discovered that the subframe was off. They adjusted it. I had since put nearly 10,000 miles on my new tires which became beveled and worn unevenly. So, LONG LONG story short Audi bought me new tires, paid the 180.00 it took to actually fix it. In fact today I pick up my car with now rides straight.

The true test was putting wheels off of a brand new s4 onto my car. Their car pulled right, mine went straight proving it was not a bad frame etc..

You need to tell them that it CAN and WILL go straight. You may need new tires...

Default I found that my Avant was very sensitive to road camber from the start. (m)

It needs to be held straight when the road tilts either way. If your car has a bias to one side you should have the right/left front wheel camber equalized by a sub frame adjustment.
