Default to all those running lightweight or underdrive pulleys....please post your impressions.

And no "you'll blow you engine" posts please.

I'm trying to find out strictly how it feels and not whether it'll lower your mom's cholesterol level or not. Thanks

Default

Put your money elsewhere, there's not enough weight savings as compared to a light weight flywheel.

Default Oh man....not you again ;-) Don't forget I can go all day with this.

There is a decent weight savings...about 5 lbs. And while I agree that a Lightweight flywheel would save much more, I am curious to hear from those have or are running this modification.

Default Not too many use them. Besides what is there to hear? You know that less weight translates to a

quicker reving engine, but 5lbs will leave you asking yourself it made a difference that was worth it. If you have nothing better to spend the cash on then go ahead and do it already.

Default I defintely should spend my money elsewhere at this point....but

I am curious to hear reports of people using this on the 2.7L as I've used it in all three of my BMWs in the past with great results. Granted I didn't run a LTW flywheel on those cars....but the difference the pulley set made was more dramatic than you suggest...I would say about 10-12hp and much better response. It was a better improvement than an intake or exhaust and was comparable to a chip on the OBD1 3.0L M3 I had. I don't know if the 2.7 reacts the same way....just want some first hand reviews. The stock pulley weighs 6lbs and the aftermarket lightweight pulleys or underdrive pulleys come in at around 1.

Don't get me wrong man...i'm not even chipped yet nor do I have DPs or any intake work done...so I definately have better places to spend cash immediately.

Default FWIW...a 2.8L A4 which runs the same crank pulley gains over 10whp from this mod.

So it would be safe to assume the S4 would see AT LEAST that...if the dyno of the car in question is accurate.

Default Well there's quite a few more mods I'd do before going to LW pulleys. 60 HP from a chip is more

noticeable than 10 hp from pulleys. Not to say I'd do pulleys but if your looking for every last hp its worth the shot. But it would be a very last option IMO. How much does a complete set of these pulleys cost anyway? Its not like they are cheap or easy to install.

Default from an article i read... light weight turning wheels make a difference..

more of the power created by the engine gets to move the car. there is more energy lost in turning a heavier wheel than a lighter one.
