With all the turbo sound paranoia is there really no way to tell if one turbo is on the way out?

Is there a way to compare the output of each turbo individually?
If not what happens say when one turbo is not broke, but not exactly healthy either? I would guess that the boost would come up to requested, but not as fast as it should.
In that case we should probably plot the requested vs actual boost under the same conditions and compare bunch of cars. Say 1st gear from a stop with no launch. Maybe record the altitude and outside temp.

So loud that there was no ifs' ands' or buts about it. I made it to the dealer before they blew and saved my cats. Don't worry about if they are on there way out or not b/c there is nothing that you can do, so just drive the car 8^ )

...because if one of your turbos isn't doing its fair share of the boosting, above that speed, the other one won't be able to fully compensate. My car felt a little slow at those speeds for a couple of weeks before a turbo went.
