Default I'm happy with my Passport 8500. Great range, display, and it's cheaper then V1.

I don't know much about the Whistler, so I couldn't comment on it.

Default i don't believe there are recent updates for the V1 (under a year). i also doubt that they can...

fix stuff like new radar detector detector defense in software.

it has to work off the tranmitter that the V1 (and all "good" radar detectors need to have (super-heterodyne receiver). V1 just used a slightly different frequency (actually frequencies, for X, K, Ka, etc bands) so the VG2 couldn't pick it up. I'm sure the new detector detectors just use a better receiver which picks up a broad range of "noise".

V1 has _some_ competition now, no doubt. but i still think it's only with ignorant customers. "Mike" certainly can't sit on his laurels like a few years ago.

Default Wired from visor ran down pilar and into to fuse panel opening

then fished it through the dash to the steering colum and out. From there I have the remote mounted right above the fog light switch. Fits perfect there, and the only wires you see is the one from the pilar to the visor and thats about three inches..

Get the V1 now or save your money until you can afford it.

K40 isn't bad. but most people mount the sensors too low. V1 will always beat it in that case.
