Default Is it alright to use seafoam this way?

My car has 140k mi on it, and just want to clean up the engine a little bit. Was thinking just buying a bottle, and putting a half bottle in the oil right before a oil change. Let it idle for 15min, shut it off and change the oil. I have heard some horror stories about it, so don't want use it for to long. I basically want to clean up the oil passages, and make sure there is no sludge/clean in my engine, as it has 140k on it and im putting ko4s in in the near future.

Also, was thinking of putting the other half in the gas tank, heard that works ok aswell. I really don't want to suck it in the intake mani, would rather go the oil route. Any help would be nice.

Default works like a champ. cleaned up some of my sludge after a coolant contamination issue

I idled for 10 minutes and drove around for 10-20 miles before changing the oil. I wouldn't do it too often, though.

If you want to try to clean up deposits in the combustion chamber, suck it in through a vac hose. Ya might wanna change your plugs after doing that, though.

As for dumping it in the gas tank, not familiar with that method.

Default Thanks guys..is a half bottle to much to put in?

You guys put it in through the oil filler cap correct? Just want to make sure im on the same page as this is my first seafoam treatment.Maybe next time ill suck it through the intake mani, but first time im going to go the easier way.

Is a half bottle to much to put in? Im going to just put it in,let idle for 15min, maybe drive a tad or just blip the rpms, drain and refill. Sound good?

Default I put half a bottle in the oil, half in the intake, then a full bottle into my gas tank

I put it in the gas tank right before a fill up.

In the oil I will drive for 100-200 miles before changing the oil. When I change the oil I also change the plugs.

Default Also check out bobistheoilguy.com.

The people on that board are very fond of AutoRx to clean up sludge, but a full AutoRx cleaning takes 5,000 miles of driving or so. FWIW, I used Seafoam in my intake manifold without any problems (other than smokescreening the neighborhood and throwing a CEL).

Default I seafoamed my A4 on Sunday and have driven aboue 125 miles with half a can in the oil

I will be building the engine shortly so I will have REAL data on the detriments (IF any) of running sea foam in the oil. Though I have done it in many cars over the years and have never had an issue in any of them. My A4 has 176k on the clock and the Sea Foam made a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE difference in the performance of the car.

Default I have been using AutoRX for many yrs in various cars.

I think it can make a big diference. I tore down a saab 900 engine one with and one without autorx treatment. The diference in the engines (140K)was quite remakable.
