Another big thanks to Tony and Dave @ EPL. I got my car retuned yesterday after a year of modding

I've actually experimented with that before...
On pump gas, it doesn't seem to matter how low or high the IAT is: The engine still seems to make max power in the high 11/low 12 AFR range.

OK... but then your previous post has no real significance. You could make the same power
jump going from the low 11's to the high 11's/low 12's with low IATs as you could with high IATs. At least that's what my research would lead to believe.

A week prior to installing the ER's I logged with my RS4's
I was running approximately 22 psi to redline, straight across. Just as I should have been. After installing the ER's boost was all over the place, as described in my above post. After my retune on saturday Tony got me back to ~22 psi to redline. On my RS4 IC tune, my ER's were causing me to boost more than 22 psi, or so I saw. I attribute this to the ER's pressure drop since that's the only thing I changed that day and my car was running perfectly (boost wise) prior to installing the ER's.
So no, I was never running more or less boost, but with the ER's installed on the RS4 IC tune, I was seeing more boost than I had with the RS4's installed.

heatsoak is another biggie. After 1 3rd gear pull on the street in sub-70 degree temps
I could heatsoak the RS4's. Two back to back dyno pulls proved to be within 1 hp of one another. That's pretty impressive. While it might not be an issue if you have time to cool down between runs, that's definitely not optimal IMO.

I think people running higher boost levels (hybrid turbos etc.) will see more gains
and also people who are running ots software. Remember, I'm getting custom tuned. So even if my IAT's are high, Tony can probably (I know nothing about tuning so someone can correct me if I'm wrong) compensate and still make good power. OTS software will probably be more reactive to better intercooling.
Another thing to remember, the only times I have dynoed were in cooler weather. I'm sure better IC's will be MUCH more noticable in summer temps. With my RS4's I was seeing temps over 130 degrees (after FAT's runs) on 70 degree days. I have a feeling the ER's will prove to be much better, athough it will be a few months until we see those temps in NE again.
