Default Yeah I'm thinkin he meant just the caps ;-)

Last couple years several of my BBS stem caps have been swiped, I think the neighborhood kids take em for their bikes. I now have a little wrench I keep in the trunk, which is used to tighten em a little beyond finger tight. No problems since then.

Default after a few laps around Thill, they get fairly hot and well, checking pressures...

burning smell, skin, well, you get the idea. I now run capless, because the plastic things melt off too.

Default The kid at Discount knew what my wheels where from and put the metal valve stems on for free...

I only took in the wheels.

Default Depends on the wheel, but centrifugal force can cause them to touch and scratch the rim.

This happened on my ol' Bonneville. Whatever you do, if you get metal sleeves over the valve stem, don't crimp them on or else you can't take them off.
