SSR Comps will fit 255s on 17x8.5 rim - personally I run 235/40/17s on track.

why so wide/, you can run 255s on a 8' and thats all the tire you can fit

Default For 255 tire 8.5 is recommended. It will also stiffen the sidewall, make the car more responsive.
Lots of 255 x 40 x 17 tires, few 245 x 40 x 17 out there.

Considering it, though leaning towards 245x40x17 RA1s on OZ Ultras
