Any tips on starting my S4 safely after it's been sitting for 3 months?

I've been out of the country for 3 months and will be attempting to start my '01.5 S4 in a few days.
I'm sure the battery is dead, so I will have a jumper on hand- but what other things should I plan on doing to minimize any trauma to the dormant car?
I was just going to drive it straight to the mechanic for an oil change (it's about that time anyway).
I remember when starting it after it had sat for a month a few years ago, it was fine (a little bit of a weak turn-over), but a little rough for the first 30 seconds or so...
Thanks for any help!

I ruined my alternator last year jumping and running a little while on a dead battery. If your battery is otherwise in good shape though, maybe that's not a concern.

when engine finally fires, go WOT for about a minute or two to blow out all the carbon deposits
