Default I think they have the ability to update the ECU Flash if needed.

They probably won't do it routinely. I think APR has a means to disable this ability, I'm not sure about the others.

All my knowledge in this area is vague, and without confirmation, so YMMV!

currently it is only on the new vag tools and the EDGE sowfware. there isn't alot of them out there.

Default Do any of the "chip" makers offer a deposit against mailing you an ECU before returning yours ?

What I'm trying to figure out is if any of the chip suppliers will send a chipped ECU to you while charging a deposit for the return of the factory ECU ?

I cannot have any downtime for my car while waiting for an ECU to be returned, and I'm not sure if a chip is basically worth paying double by buying a second ECU.

Yes it's possible on stock ECU, not on APR & Garrett modified ECU's. Dunno about others.
