Default Anybody else's car REAL sensitive to to longitudinally-uneven pavement under hard braking?...

You know, wide grooves running the same way as the road, like where a lot of heavy trucks have been running?

My old GTI VR6 was rock-solid under the same circumstances. My S4 feels like it's diving for the other lane somtimes.

I've chalked it up to wider 17-inch versus 15-inch wheels. Will stiffer suspension help? How about other tires?

I do have the same problem, but only with summer Michelin Pilot Sport 18'' .. not with winter 17''

Yeah mine does it too, I just assume its a natural behavior of the suspension in there.

Its disconcerting when you're not expecting it, but you get used to it.

Default I exprienced that with my 205/60R15 Blizzaks. I chalked it up…

… to the squirmy tread blocks, measly 205 section with big circumferential groove down the middle and overly enthusiastic piloting on may part. 225/45ZR17 S-02 PPs are on now and I haven't had the problem on the same piece of road.<p>2000 Nogaro/Silver - S4

it's called "tram-lining"--the tendency for wide tires (225+) to follow grooves in the road

One way to minimize that if it really bothers you is to toe the front end IN a little more. That improves stability at the expense of numbing turn-in.

A common autocross setup is to increase toe-out to make the car a little more "darty" which, depending on the car, may be desirable in an autocross.

I had 2953's problem, but I have since switched to summer set-up,MM Spiders w/225/45/17 Yoko AVS Sports. Now the car tramlines under all conditions-not just braking.Maybe reducing the unsprung weight(via the lighter wheels)has caused this problem.I may try a fix by increasing toe-in.2953,or anyone, have you tried this?
