Default Anybody had the same installation problem with EBC Green Stuff? ......

Received EBC greens for 2000 S4 and went for installation to the local shop. All new peices have metal brackets on the back, but the first stock piece that was removed did not have anything on the back. Therefore, I was told by the mechanic that they will not fit my car. The part # was 21012 on the box.

Default Yipes! Something is very wrong here.

The friction material for all pads has to be attached to something (the backing material or "bracket"). Three obvious options: 1) you wore down the pads to nothing (unlikely) so that no friction material was left and the mechanic couldn't tell it was the backing material only he was seeing (in which case he's incompetent). You certainly would have noticed that you had metal to metal contact and your rotors would be fried; 2) Your mechanic knows absolutely nothing about brakes (in which case he's incompetent) and what he told you isn't true; and/or 3) He is knowingly lying to you for some reason (possibly to get you to buy the "right pads" from him), in which case he's a criminal. Can anyone think of a legitimate alternative explanation?

Default Yes, I had the same problem. My dealer tech did the install....

he said he had to take the caliper apart to get them to fit and that it was a major PITA. He got them on and they're fine though. Also he said the wear sensor cable was the older Audi connector and hasn't been used for 3 or 4 years so he hard wired it.

You can see the clips attached to the calipers up front. I'll take a picture and post it tonight if I can.

Default Christ man, Chill the F Out on the Technicians!!! It sounds like the brackets.....

he's talking about are the ones that plug into the pistons. Please give a better description of the brackets so we know what you're missing.
