Default Anyone else suffer loosening wheel wheel bolts ???

A week ago I discovered a loose wheel. I retightened the lug nuts to 90 lb-ft. This morning I noticed a slight vibration. It got worse in the afternoon. I stopped at a garage and discovered that I again had loose wheel bolts on the same wheel.

Anyone have this same problem?

At least I am able to spot the problem pretty quickly and re-tighten before the wheel comes off. But I still worry that a wheel might crack.

Default Both Diego and I had that same problem. What brakes are you running?

It only seemed to happen on longer trips like > 2 hour of continuous driving.

Default your bolts may not be long enough. i had this problem with the bolts that Edge Racing

sent me with my Flik Lex's. maybe 25mm threads and engaged only about 4 full turns. i changed to 29mm (iirc) and the loosening problem went away.

this assumes aftermarket wheels and lug bolts and not the stock set-up.

Default did you replace the rotors lately?

Maybe you had some rust under the rotor (between rotor and hub) that shifted around? Just guessing.

Do the wheel's seat (ball/conical) match the wheels?

Default Yes...

But what I took off was the aftermarket ECS rotors and I put back on the original stock rotors that came off.

Before I put them back on I used a wire wheel on a drill to remove all of the loose rust.

Stock wheels, stock rotors, stock bolts.

Default Stock brakes...

As I said, I could feel a very slight vibration. They got worse slowly. I don't think most would have even noticed it.

The previous time was much worse. I limped home in the car (thinking a CV-joint have gone). Then they were really loose.
