You would be adding a lot of unsprung weight to the rear with little benefit.

Default Don't front brake kits weigh more than stock? If so, you're adding unsprung weight there, but for a

discernable benefit. Wouldn't stock front brakes work better than stock rear brakes? If so, why wouldn't the extra weight penalty be worth the added performance? Seems like an interesting idea for avoiding a four wheel kit.

Default I don't know of one aftermarket front brake kit that weighs more than the stock OEM.

Most of the weight savings on the front brake kits come from using aluminum rotor hats.

The primary reason to go to aftermarket front brakes is the rotor's ability to cool off faster. That way there's less of a chance to overheat your brakes.

As for the rears, the rears never overheat and there's plenty of braking torque. So there's no reason to replace that with heavier calipers and heavier rotors, which would most likely ruin the front to rear brake bias?

The only reason you'd do it is for looks and attention, sorta like funky colored mt. bikes or wanting red calipers :b

Default That's cool - I assumed that the aftermarket kits weighed more.

Yap all you want about the new bike. When you ask to ride it, I'm just going to kick up some mud in your face and take off. :-p
