Default I tore through most of it with an air grinder and a ball shaped bit

and finished off with a dremel and various size bits .. to do it all with a dremel, I'd worry about the life of the dremel. it would take a great deal of time.

Default As most have said already, its tough work for a dremel, it will most likely burn one up

You really need a die grinder, either an air compressor one or a good eletric one. You want to work at about 10K RPM range with the grinder. Standard Abrasives makes a good kit with pretty much every grinder, sander, flap wheel that you will need for like 40 bucks.

Click

Default Public Service Announcement: You should not use stone bits/grinding wheels on aluminum. The

The heated soft aluminum that comes off during grinding will fill the gaps in the surface of the stone and will prevent the air from cooling it as it spins. If the stone gets too hot it will explode and send pieces flying everywhere.

Default Myth busted !

was fully aware of possible clogging and reducing grinding ability of the bit. However in reality stone wears nicely keeping AL from sticking to the bit. Use thiker gogles if you that paranoid...
Again, we talking DREMEL tool, not larger pneumatic tools.
