Default Anyone have their wheels powder coated? I'm thinking about it.

I am looking into it because it is a harder finish. However, I called a place that refinishes wheels and they told me that it doesn't hold up under the flex that wheels experience. They said the regular poly urethane paint works best.

I have Hartman RS4 DTMs and use them as my winter wheels. The paint is bubbly in sections and cracked and flaking off in some areas.

Has anyone had their wheels powder coated, and have you had any problems with it?

Default powdercoat is much better ... it has been proven in salt spray environments as well as

flexibility/chip resistance tests. a good example is ... paint aluminum foil, then powdercoat another piece ... then crinkle up the aluminum foil ... you will see then why powder > paint

FYI there are lots of different types of powders ... polyolefins, polyesters, epoxies, etc etc.

for wheels i recommend polyester powder for corrosion resistance, UV stability, and cool colors

im no expert in powdercoating, but i do it in my garage for my friends as a hobby b/c i think people charge way too much for it.

just remember, like paint ... its all in the prep work. ****ty in = ****ty out
