Default Anyone here using cold air intakes? ......

Im looking at buying a cold air intake for the S4 but have no clue what type or brand i should get.

I dont know if i should go for the cone filters or keep the same style panel filter that K&N make.

Any advice would help. Thanks

Default hmm see thats a sketchy topic here but here's the info

most here will say they dont do jack

most here will also say that K&n will screw up your MAF

I would stick with the stock airbox, I would also go with ITG panel drop in (thats what I have)

And I personally am pretty sure they help although not directly in terms of airflow...but they do help.

btw-you can get ITG from awe tuning

Default oops forgot to say somethin about that

if you run a normal cone filter hanging off your y-pipe it's sitting in the engine bay sucking hot air...you dont want to do this !

if you really want to run a cone filter , awe s-flo is a cone filter that goes inside your stock airbox...check that out

honestly space is cramped in the S, stock airbox isn't so bad...

Default another important thing...

it's a STRAIGHT SHOT from your airfilter box to your turbos and woe betide you if you drop anything AT ALL into the intake tract.

Default Check this out

What if u put piping from the front of the car right to the filter ???

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/40854/s4_induction_kit_in_01.jpg">

this LLTEK filter made by i dont know has a heat shield but that that crap works. the piping would fix the heat issue.

Thats what most owners of Jap cars do here in Australia

Default so where's the cold air coming from?

ever burned your hand on the hood of an S4? I have...air density goes down 1hg for every 4 degrees of ambient. An S4 engine bay is probably 25 degrees above ambient (minimum). Why on EARTH would anyone think a "heat shield" would do jack when the whole point is to get COOL AIR into the intake.

That aint going to draw cold air unless you take the headlight off and at that point...what IS the point?

Nobdoy has ever posted a multiple-run dyno proven HP gain from any filter for an S4 EVER.
