The spring is broken. You have to replace the handle. Its about $35-40, IIRC.

Default replace entire piece

sorry, but it is 99% likely that the handle spring is broke. You could try to replace just the spring, but the entire piece is only like 35 bucks, or it was 2 years ago when I replaced it. Plus, I think trying to get a new spring on there would be more trouble than its worth.

STFA a bit, there is a lot on it. There is also a tech write up in the tech section for replacing it.

Default Usually the spring breaks, which may have happened.

The whole panel there with the chrome handle and the speaker cover are one part and must be replaced.

Default It's just a coil spring so you should be able to bend it to make up the slack.

Be careful you don't snap it though. I have seen that happen due to corrosion.
