Anyone know what "helper springs"(the smaller spring) do on coilover suspensions?

Default Anyone know what "helper springs"(the smaller spring) do on coilover suspensions?

I am thinking of removing them from my coilovers in order to get a bit more lowering abilities...these are the pss9

Default I would imagine it's to keep the spring loaded when the suspension is fully unloaded ...

e.g., when you put the car on a lift...

or when you get airborne flying over bumps ;-)

Exactly, keeps the springs seated in the perches when they unload..
