Default aluminum is 1/3 the weight of steel however the steel spindle assemblies are hollow

so it's just a few pounds...

but still - it's unsprung weight.

Do you know how much the steel uprights weight? And would you need 00' control arms?

Default i don't remember their weight - someone weighed them and cut one open once.

it wasn't a huge difference.

you need 00 lower arms but the upper arms are the same.

also - you get the added benefit of no seized pinch bolt =)

Default the upright needs diff lower arms, and diff wheel bearing ... but pinch bolt corrosion is still poss

if salt is introduced into the mix. galvanic corrosion also pwns

Default says the guy who went with 2.8/rs4 intake tract :)

hey man, 6 lbs of unsprung weight savings per corner is important to me.

no not really. im not doing it for weight so much ... more like i have old wheel bearings, and old control arms sitting around. so its either get new arms for iron uprights, or get alum uprights

Default I never had to experience the Pinch Bolt problems on mine (Alm) and I had 70k of wisconsin corrosion

Maybe I got lucky, maybe it doesn't happen on the Aluminum Uprights.
