What kind of electrical modifications are needed to get the TB to work properly...or is it just plug and play from RS4 to the S4? I know there will be custom machining and welding to get the RS4 TB onto the S4 intake manifold (not a big deal as I plan on having it ported and polished.
I got a quote from somebody who had this work done and it cost around $500 to do all the machining and welding. I want to have VAST P&P the manifold and maybe they can do the custom RS4 TB on it? Anybody know?

I'm thinking about using the RS4 TB to a custom FMIC 3'' outlet pipe. I figured a larger diameter TB
would be best for the set up as opposed to the 2.875'' S4 TB. Since I have plans to do the custom fmic, I wouldn't need the RS4 metal TBB, I'd have a custom pipe made.
Is it machining the RS4 TB to a p&p'd s4 intake manifold for some extra gain? Or is the extra work not worth it...?

Tb would not be the bottlenec in your sequence. i used to think the same as you
but have been schooled to learn that the stoc TB flows plenty..............where if you go larger throttle response could be slower. i thin the only advantage you see is up top, and even so headwork or money spent elsewhere would prolly be a better toute then the headache you might be looing at.
of course i could be totally wrong too, but thats my 2 cents

I agree with what you are saying and have sort have thought that same way...
From what i've learned in the last few hours (phew) the stock TB is pretty damn large. I'll stick to stock TB with P&P intake mani.
Second question: Phenolic spacers, yay or nay?

Seems to make a diff on mine. Intake remains cool to the touch, IATs are ~30-35deg from ambients in
the little logging I've done so far on pulls. The ICs are probably augmenting this though...

No, have logs of Stg2 with Stock/RS4ICs and then the spacers on Stg3...
not consistent I know but my mani/Ypipe are much cooler to the touch now. Wouldn't necessarily reccomend these to everyone but I have played with some on various V8 setups with measured success and was in the general theme of mine(to keep heat to a minimum on my Stg3 install).
