Default Anyone w/ GIAC X Chip on Tip car, but no Tip Chip?

I've got the GIAC X Chip in my 2002 2.7T and the GIAC Tip chip too. I love the X Chip, but I don't seem to notice any benefit from the Tip Chip, and the car seems to have a rougher 1st to 2nd shift with the tip chip so I'm planning to have it removed. Just curious if anyone has run the X Chip on a tiptronic w/out a tip chip and if so, any problems? I've heard about gear "hunting" or something, but not sure what that is all about.

IIRC they are very similar. Some A6 guys also have level 10 &/ or tip chip.

Default Not GIAC, but I have MTM 16-17 psi spike and no Tip/Chip. Tons of hunting. It's swell :-/

I'm guessing you'll have the same problems? I have been told my TCU is bad. I'm starting to believe it. Everything is fine until you put more than 50% load on the engine. Then it's a PITA.

The Tip chip does not do anything about gear hunting, only shifting response.

I've been told that, and the opposite. Never had it, so I can't give a first hand opinion.

Default I see gear hunting with or without it. With a little practice, I can completely control it.

It just takes a little work to get the feel for what causes it.

I'm doing the same thing. Off the gas a bit before selecting next gear. So on...
