Try double-clutching it. I usually go put in the clutch, go into 3rd (or 1st), go back to neutral, release clutch, put in clutch, go to reverse, then go. I only go through this much trouble in the morning when I first get in and it's like 8 degrees (like it was this morning!). So, yes, I do find it more difficult when it's really cold. Maybe the transmission fluid is still cold and syrupy?

Default Reverse has been tempermental on my car since day 1 ...

I report it as a problem every time I take it for service and get the same response every time ... nuttin' wrong wit it.

I have to "gear hunt" to "unbind" the linkage so it'll accept R 75% of the time. It gets *really* old, and if I'm pulled all the way into a space, where pulling forward any further will result in contact with the curb or concrete stop, I grow frustrated when gear hunting doesn't do the trick and I need to move the car a smidge ... but don't want to scrape the front under belly.

Default Mine was horrible, until I got my Tanoga. OF course it might not have been adjusted correctly...

from the factory. Reverse is now no longer a struggle, 1st and 2nd still aren't that smooth though.

Default One thing I've learned with this car is to never park too close to anything, or else something will

rub.

Default I asked the same question when I first bought the car

The best solution, in my experience, has been to engage first gear beforehand (you don't have to release clutch so this works in tight spaces, too). While engaging the clutch, shift to first, and then shift to reverse. It works every time.
