Default APR Chip'rs - Question about the Fault Codes Erase. more...

Monday I'm taking my car into dealer. Going to swap with stock ECU.

Someone recommend I have codes cleared. Can I do this with APR's FCE or do I need a Vag Tool?

TIA.

Default You won't be able to access the fault code erase once you remove the APR ECU from your car...

...so I'd recommend finding someone with a VAG tool to clear the power-loss DTC for you. And make sure you drive the car enough to reset the readiness codes.

Understood but if I clear codes THEN remove swap ECU's won't it work?

No, as soon as you disconnect the ECU, the power loss DTC is set.

Default You need to do one of two things...

1. (Preferable) Find someone who has a Vag-tool to erase the low voltage code and/or by the Vag-tool, you're going to be needing it.

2. Drive the car for 30 miles or so. I'm not sure anyone know how long it takes for the code to be self erased. After a 45 min drive, I still had the code in memory. So, be careful if you take that route.

Default I believe you need x number of "cold starts" to clear the power-loss DTC....

...where x is some number between 10 and 30, from what I've heard. Just starting the car and driving it will not clear the power-loss DTC, it will however start to reset the readiness codes.
