APR ECU Explorer -- New Version

We have developed a new version of ECU Explorer for four reasons with the biggest reason being the first:
1) Compatibility with the latest engine management systems (ME9, EDC16, etc.)
2) Compliance with certain automotive standards that simplify (1)
3) Modularization of components to allow greater flexibility
4) Update all components to the latest .NET framework
This version is currently ONLY for internal use. It is being used for all of our calibration on ME9 equipped vehicles. As for commercial release, certainly this version will at some point replace the current version of ECU Explorer. There definitely is NOT a defined price structure for this product yet. I am not sure who gave out any pricing for this (although you did state it was a guess). I would disregard any price figures that were given. Six months is not entirely unrealistic, as the program exists but I would say that up to a year is possible. Regardless, for the B5 S4 there won't be a huge difference in functionality.

its used to distribute upgrades and sometimes even entire software packages.
yes, you DO NOT have to ship CD's anymore... thats what licence keys are for.
and big deal, they are both equally hackable.
why make it any harder on your *paying* customers?
They'll just be encouraged to hack your product illegally when you show online-tech retardation.

and i *always* go out of my way to pay for software that is worth the money, even maintenance contracts... IF the company makes it worth my while.
its about adding value. if it is easy to access and upgrade your product (i.e. less than 2 clicks on your website, no logging in, etc. etc. POSSIBLY ask for my key or licence info ONCE), then i will continue to pay for upgrades.
either way, bugfixes should be FREE. A maint contract should NOT be needed to fix critical bugs.
if it becomes painful, then forget it. I will neither pay for or even USE your product.
On some occasions, yes, i will find a crack, but that is rare lately. i simply dont have the energy to deal with *broken* software - and make no mistake, heavily encumbered software is BROKEN.
