Default APR v5 Boost...

I finally got a chance to drive my S4 with a boost gauge connected today, and I am wondering if these numbers sound about right. From the archives it seems to be ok in 3rd-6th gears, but 1st and 2nd seem to be limited in some way.

idle: 22-25hg/mm vacuum
1st: 10-12psi max
2nd: 12psi max
3rd-6th: 16psi max

do these levels (assuming my boost gauge is reasonably accurate) seem about right? Why am I seeing lower boost in 1st and 2nd gear? Is it that I need to launch it in 1st to build up more boost? Seems similar in 2nd, but it is hopefully just my driving style?

Default You wont see that much boost in 1st or 2nd gear. You are going through the gears m

so fast it doesnt have time to build that high. I usually see 14-15 lbs in 2nd, and 16-17 3rd+ gear. What you are seeing is normal.

Default Seems normal to me, but I don't have APR

You see lower boost in 1st because there is significantly less engine load due to the gearing advantage. This also makes the car drive more smoothly. I'd think you could hit full boost in 2nd grear, but this may just be APR programming for driveability over max powah.

Default I bet boost CAN build that fast in 2nd, the programming just doesn't allow it

run MBC only and we can find out for sure =P

Default My readings....

in my 2000 with APR v5 I regularly top out at 18psi max then it will level off around 16-17 at wot 2nd gear or higher. Your readings sound low to me. It may be a difference in the gauge or you may have a small leak. Have you pressure tested the intake system to check for boost leaks?

Default Might be a bit of a difference in the gauge... I haven't pressure tested though

I have the tester sitting in my room, but have not tried it yet. I made it while I was home for winter break, now I am back at school and without a good compressor to hook up to!

Default I recall my vag-com logs having a higher peak in 3rd. I don't have

the logs on this laptop, though... IIRC mid 17's...
