(on business trips) and (YES) they have POSTED speed limits TOO!
In fact,I've driven on the autobahn (MORE THAN ONCE). Guess what - there are POSTED speed limits on some parts of the Autobahn! It aint ALL OPEN ROAD!
Once u get off the autobahn - the Germans are **** about POSTED speed limits on their streets. They have CAMERAS on stop lights to catch speeders - it has been that way for MORE than 15 yrs!
The USA is actually SLOWER than many European countries in cracking down on speeders! So don't feed me the SCATALOGICAL argument that u posted.

The rest of Europe has maximum speed limits on the motorways of between 110 and 130 km/h depending on the country. Here in Europe the speed limits are applied rigorously, if you are caught doing 159 km/h any where apart from certain sections of the German Autobahn you will be fined and receive points on your liecence at the least. Also do not forget even on the approx. 40% of the Autobahn which is "unrestricted" the asvisory speed limit is 130 km/h and if you are involved in an accident whilst travelling faster, you automatically receive atleast a partial fault!!!!

You are in the U.K. ???
I have extensive driving experience all over Europe. It is a vast oversimplification to say that the speed limits are enforced rigorously everywhere in Europe and that a speed of 160 km/h will get you a stiff fine. In much of Europe, enforcement is sporadic at best. The treatment norms in Spain and Italy is quite different to what one would expect in say Britain and the Netherlands.
Speed above 130 km/h in Germany will be considered. The strict liability point comes at 250 km/h.
