ASP Stage 3: Car won't start :-(
#41
No, temps were in the 70s here last week and the car worked 100%....
Dropped into the 30s-40s this week and, from the first cold morning, it hasn't started. Even when it doesn't start in the morning, once it warms up outside (afternoon), the car starts fine.

and I tackled all the hard issues thinking the same thing
But, bottom line, as soon as it got cold, this other ASP stage 3 car began to have a hard time starting. Eventually, nothing, just cranked with no start.
You're not mechanically challenged, you did the engine pull yourself. What have you got to lose from going out and throwing in some stock plugs and seeing if it starts. If it doesn't, then no real loss, we're all wrong. But if it does...hey, you get to eat.

You need a really good spark to fire that fuel and that is the most important thing.
The cold is hard on the ignition system, too. Ever try using batteries in freezing weather?
Just go change your plugs and tell us we were wrong already. :P

I still am not convinced its plugs, but since its so easy to pull a few,
crank the car for 30-45 sec. and then stop. Go and pull a few plugs and see if they are wet or smell of gas. If so, you most likely have an ignition problem. If they not, you more than likely have a temp related fuel delivery problem.
This just popped into my mind. Since you had injector seating issues, maybe the o-rings are a bit too small, and when its cold out they shrink just a bit. This would cause a very lean condition causing mis-fires or not starting. Once it warmed up they would expand and seal solving the issue. Wiggle them and see. Needs to be cold though.
Again, just grasping at straws.

Its 1:23am here, don't think I'm gonna be able to find any plugs right now... bottom line...
if I can't get this car started tomorrow, its gonna be on a flatbed back to ASP Monday. I can't really afford to not have a car that start every morning when I need to go to class, and I don't really have the time to mess with this. I paid them a pretty penny for this stage 3 thing, I don't think expecting it to start is too much to ask ;-)
Since the car was already for sale, if it does go back to ASP, I'm going to make sure they make it 100% and then I'll either just sell it out of their shop (if they are willing), or I'll have it towed back to Allentown and sell it from there... I just don't have the time to deal with this right now. I feel guilty I'm even posting on here right now while I have more reading to do, lol.
