There are a lot of military options other than this.
We should hit back, hard. But not through conventional means. Take their money. Turn them against each other. Retaliate with our own terrorism. Send aid to the poor Afganis to help turn the tide of public opinion. Pressure and isolate the Taliban politically. Use unconventional, black-ops stuff.
Makes a lot more sense than a big, conventional land war or aerial attacks. Bush is chest-pounding so that there's some kind of action to show on tv to appease people.

This is what I mean.
The folks crying revenge are idiotic. If people think that by bombing and wiping out their training camps (I'm sure they are shaking in their pants) is going to solve the larger problem at hand, they are sadly mistaken.
OBL is very much like Hitler, and if people have studied their history correctly, they should know that the propaganda that OBL is pumping out is going to turn a lot of people in the Muslim world in his favor.
People like OBL and Hitler always twist the truth a little bit, enough for common, ill-informed citizens, to follow them.
So what is the U.S. going to do here. Wipe out some airports, and training camps, and IF we are lucky enough to locate OBL, kill him? I doubt that.
But let's say that we do "accidently" kill him, there are going to be lots of folks lined up to take his battle cry and see it through for decades to come. Make no mistake about it, what we are doing now is going to forever change how we live.
I haven't seen the OBL statement, but I heard it on NPR, and I can say that there is a sound basis for what OBL was saying. Only his actions were unacceptable.
