Default Article loses all credibility with this...

"As for which tranny is best for the A4, the automatic seemed better suited to the new engines in our opinion. It lessens the impression of what little turbo lag the 2.0T has and smoothes out the 3.2L V6 a little as well. Besides, if you want to shift manually, there's always the Tiptronic alternative."

No offense to tippers, but the Auto is not a manual substitute by any means.

Default Your not going to like this....

I agree, I prefer a manual but we are in the minority and becoming smaller by the day.

Default I don't think it's meant as a manual substitute. For some of us

(myself included), having to use a stick shift in our commute would be a PITA. It's like a convertible: it's fun on those occasions you can enjoy it, but for the remaining 90% of the year...

Default I don't know

I love my manual...give me a munual like CVT (one I and I'll give up my third petal any day. Of course it would need to be a quattro system with 300hp+ capabilites. Not like audi's current cvt setup.

Default Right, I'm NOT steering this thread towards the never ending debate...

I'm saying for those of us who want a manual, the Tip is not a substitue. A TIP is an auto. The only thing which would mildly interest those who want a manual is a DSG.

Default OMFG.

"And talking on a cell phone and sipping coffee -- favorite pastimes of today's drivers -- is much easier without worrying about shifting gears. "

Please shoot me now.

I might have to keep my S4 forevah.
