I was told that I could install an ECU from a 6-speed manual into my 2001 Audi S4 tiptronic, and that the only thing that would need to be done is recode the ECU. Took car to dealer and their VAG-COM will not permit the coding change. Their most experienced tech does not know why. Anybody here help?
Old ECU 8D0 907 551 L Coded for TipTronic (but ruined by body shop welding)
New ECU 8D0 907 551 T Coded for 6-Speed Manual
Error Codes:
(1) Check Engine Diagnostic Code P1612 VAG 18020 Electronic Control Module Incorrect Coding.
(2) Check Engine Diagnostic Code P1841 VAG 18249 Engine/Transmission Control Module Versions do not Match.
Thanks in Advance! Tom in Florida
