I was just relating an first-hand experience - which was with a reservation made from the US with a major rental carrier (Hertz, I think). Sounds like things have loosened up since then.

Hi Mike
I am interested in joining your Audi trip. However I am in England and would bring along my S8.
Can you quote me a price for joining you please?
Obviously I just need the hotel rooms and entry to the circuits/museums.
Thanks for your help.
Can a friend with a 911 come as well?

which is nothing in autobahn time. ;-) We're initially meeting in Frankfurt before heading to Ingolstadt (then Nurburgring). Frankfurt to Munich is ~395 miles...
Do come!!!

How hard would it be for me to get a car on very short notice, well one that I want to drive? I am getting too used to Stage 3. Also keep in ind I am 22. My goal is to make it there, but I need to figure it out how to do it and not upset my prof. At very least I will get out on the Autobhan. I will keep you guys updated.

The autobahns that connects Munich and Frankfurt, the A9 and A3, are some of the fastest stretches to run. In any car capable of 130pmh, you can run that speed pretty consistently. There are a few radar traps, but even when I have been "bitten" in the past in Germany, I have never received the tickets by mail (The Netherlands is a different story. They will pursue you and stop you at the border).
If you want to join us, you'd likely be best either driving from Munich or taking the train from Munich to Frankfurt and renting a car at the Frankfurt train station. 22 is usually not a problem, but you will pay more.
Write me and I will try and help you out (as you obviously cannot do the whole tour).
TC,
