Audi Roadside Assistance
Has anyone here used this yet?
My wife has a flat tire at her office right now, and I am halfway across the country from her and unable to help.
The parking lot at her office is dark and it's not in the best section of town (DC). She is not at all comfortable changing her tire in a dark, empty parking lot.
She called Audi Roadside Assistance to have someone come out and change her tire at 5:45pm. They told her someone would be out to her within an hour.
When no one showed up an hour later, she called back. The Audi representative informed her that they were really backed up, and were suprised that she "wasn't notified". They promised to have someone out within 20 minutes.
It's now almost 7:30. No return call. No assistance. She called roadside assistance again.
This time, the representative told her that the tow truck driver was lost. "They didn't call you to get directions?", she asked. Of course not.
Is this typical?

I used Roadside Assistance when my tranny died...
Nice lady with a southern accent answered the phone. She stayed the tow truck would be about an hour out and requested a flat-bed for me before I even requested one.
The tow truck showed up within the hour and when my car pulled up to the dealership, somebody from Roadside Assistance called me and asked if the tow truck arrived.
Good experience in my case.

Re: kinda typical, but they WILL et there. next time tell them your in a ****ty part of town
She did. As a matter of fact, she also told them that she was in a bad part of town *and* locked out of her building for the night. She's been huddled in her car with a co-worker for almost two hours.

They really suck
I've had to use them twice. First time, it took them about 1.5 hours to get to me (meanwhile my car wouldn't start and I was waiting by the side of the road in 110+ degree heat), second time they sent a really grisled old man, wouldn't stop complaining the whole time.

Guess it depends on where you live.
I had to use them twice in one month, and both times they arrived at my home within 20 minutes. If they contract out to garages/service stations that are near where you break down, they can get there pretty quickly sometimes.
