Hot on the heels of last week's Autocar, today's pits the E46 M3 against the 911 Carera and the Audi RS4.
The summary reads as follows ...
"The Audi RS4 does the job and has all the traditional Audi virtues, but its clumsy, often uncouth manners mark it down for third place against two motoring giants. In this company, it's revealed as yet another compromised Audi that can't - no matter how hard its tries - live up to an enthusiastic driver's expectations.
Second place goes to the 911, beaten at the tape by the M3's extraordinary value for money. The Porsche remains a stirring drive, a wonderfully evocative car that's constantly talking to the driver. You never doubt the Carrera's engineering integrity, nor its versatility as an everyday supercar.
But let nothing detract from the M3. This is truly a defining car for BMW. It's closer in driving character to the original and delivers true supercar performance, yet remains refined and essentially comfortable. Choosing between 911 and M3 would be an incredibly difficult task - until you look at their prices.
And, of course, the size of their wheels"
"On the road, the differences in outright acceleration are far closer than our own figures suggest. In reality, there's nothing between these three - all are indecently blindingly fast."
P.S. If you guys want to flame anyone, flame the writers of the article who BTW are the same guys that didn't like the E36 Euro M3, comlaining of a lack of steering feel & a character removed from the original M3.

Thats why on order are :-
my 450bhp 550nm chip and exhaust
New Suspension
refit UUC shifter
Yoka AVS tyres
That should inject some character into it
M3 does v seam well priced, shame they are all driven by tossers
